Common questions

How Whisper works

You send a photo, a voice note, or a few words to someone you are paired with, and it lands on their Home Screen widget. Once they open it, it is gone. Up to five whispers can wait for a person at a time, and anything still unopened after seven days expires on its own. Everything is end-to-end encrypted, so only the two of you can read it.

Pairing with your people

You can be paired with up to four people, or eight with Whisper Unlimited. To add someone, share your invite link or read them your six-digit code. When they use it, a request arrives for you to approve, so nobody joins your account without you. A code is good for fifteen minutes and a link for seven days. If a link is not opening the app, check that you both have the latest version installed.

Disappearing chats and reactions

Replying to a whisper with text opens a disappearing chat with that person, where you can go back and forth without waiting for a turn. Every message in it disappears after twenty-four hours. When you open a whisper you can also send a single emoji straight back.

Managing your subscription

Whisper Unlimited adds video whispers, longer voice whispers, room for up to eight people, and everything you have sent rather than only the last thirty days. It is billed through your Apple ID. To view, change, or cancel it, open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the current period.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account, and the data associated with it, at any time from inside the app in Settings. This cannot be undone.
